DELIGHTS OF PAINTING

A new activity for Probus members coming in October.

Local artist Jo Scott-B (Probus member Jo Baxendale) will help you discover an individual joy in painting. Using a variety of water-based media — inks, acrylics, or watercolour —Jo will show ways to master drawing and painting in this new series of 8 group lessons. Some experience preferred. Jo will supply materials for the first two sessions.

Participants: 6 (with a wait list)

Dates: Friday October 10-November 28. 1pm - 3.30pm

Cost: $120 Private pay at registration by eTransfer or cheque

Place: In Person near West 33rd and Granville St

Registration will open on the Probus West website September 17 and close October 7.
Jo Scott-B is an award-winning local artist whose most recent big project was the Vancouver Maritime Museum’s Heartbeat of a Vessel, which exhibited her drawings and paintings of St. Roch's engine.

Walking Tour of Granville Island, with Joost Bakker, Architect

Please join us for a fascinating tour of Granville Island with Joost Bakker, one of the architects who created the vision and plan for Granville Island. While many of us visit the Island, few of us know the background to the creation of the Island, from concept to its design and building. Joost is a great storyteller and his experience and vision in urban design is inspiring.

Date: Wednesday September 24, 10 am, about 1.5 hours.

Meeting Place: Granville Island, in front of A Bread Affair, 1680 Johnston St.

Cost: We will provide an honorarium to Joost for his tour, suggest $10 per person

Parking: There is paid parking available on Granville Island, and while there is transit, be prepared to walk.

Reifel Bird Sanctuary Tour

Join us for a guided tour of a taxidermy museum followed by a walk with various stops to learn about migratory birds including the Lesser Snow Geese and other waterfowl. Tour is 60-90 minutes and begins at 10 AM. We are confirmed for Oct. 15th and hope that 15-30 will register for this interesting activity

When: Wednesday, Oct 15th at 10:00 AM.

Location: George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary

ADDRESS: 5191 Robertson Rd, Delta (allow 40 min via Geo. Massey Tunnel, then River Road to Westham Island)
